SHRIVARDHAN BEACH IN MONSOON
The tourist-season version of Shrivardhan Beach is beautiful. The monsoon version is something else entirely. The sea is higher, more urgent, and closer than it feels in the dry months. The road from Shrivardhan to Harihareshwar in July or August is one of the greenest drives in Maharashtra. The hills that are brown-gold in the dry season are covered in a saturated, dense green that is difficult to describe and impossible to photograph accurately. It simply has to be ridden.
At Harihareshwar, the Savitri river is full and fast. The four rivers visible from the clifftop are at their most impressive. The temple, in the monsoon, has a quiet intensity that the peak season crowds do not allow for.
DIVEAGAR BEACH — MONSOON EMPTINESS
Diveagar in monsoon season is genuinely empty. On most days, you will have the beach to yourself. The sea is rough and dramatic and the clouds sit low over the water. For those who find crowded beaches exhausting, Diveagar in the rains is a revelation.
