Every destination has two versions. The tourist version, which is easy to find and well documented. And the version that requires local knowledge, a willingness to go slightly off script, and — on the Konkan coast specifically — a two-wheeler.
2WheelTrip has been helping tourists find the second version of Shrivardhan, Diveagar Beach, and Harihareshwar for years. This is what they find.
SHRIVARDHAN — THE BEACH BEYOND THE MAIN STRETCH
Most visitors to Shrivardhan go to the central beach. The locals — and the travellers who rent bikes from 2WheelTrip — go further along the shoreline, where the sand is uninterrupted and the sea has more space. That stretch of Shrivardhan beach road, accessible easily on a two-wheeler, changes the experience of the place entirely.
DIVEAGAR — THE BEACH THAT REWARDS THE RIDE
Diveagar Beach is not difficult to find on a map. But the best way to approach it — via the coastal back road rather than the main highway — is something a GPS will not suggest and a car driver will not choose. On a bike, it is the obvious route.
The approach via the coastal track brings you to Diveagar from the north, along a road that has the sea on one side and cashew orchards on the other. The beach, when it appears, feels like you earned it.
Diveagar is one of the widest, quietest beaches on the Konkan coast. On a weekday, it can feel entirely private. Even on weekends, the scale of it means there is always space.
HARIHARESHWAR — THE VIEW MOST PEOPLE MISS
The Harihareshwar temple is well known. The view from the clifftop above it — where the Savitri river, the Kundalika river, and the Gayatri river all meet the Arabian Sea simultaneously — is not. It requires a short ride around the temple complex and a path that only makes sense if you have a two-wheeler and know where you are going.
2WheelTrip's local route guidance includes this. It is the kind of detail that separates a Konkan trip from a memorable Konkan trip.
